Let’s talk about what an attitude adjustment can do for you. I’m writing this post late on a Sunday night. Most of you won’t read this until Monday morning, which is perfect. I hope this will impact your Monday in a positive way.
My entire life I’ve heard people complain about Monday. It never fails, every Monday it happens. You can count on it. I understand that the weekend is over and it’s time to go back to work. I know how much of a bummer that is. However, the complaints I hear usually aren’t about being back at work, they are talking about how bad Monday is. Like there is something about Monday that makes everything go wrong.
I’ve even heard people say on Tuesday, “This is a Monday all over again.” They usually say it when things aren’t going right. It’s such a horrible habit to get into, but it’s so easy to get swept up in it. You’ve probably heard and experienced how bad news travels fast. Monday blues are like that! It’s all in the attitude you carry.
Today make it a priority to not complain or be negative. Yes, even if it’s not Monday when you’re reading this. Try it. That will be your first step. Just try to not be negative or complain. This step alone can be very hard. Some of us are just negative people even though we don’t really mean to be.
If you can get the negativity under control then you can move on to the next step. Start being positive about the day. Vocalize it. As a matter of fact, don’t just be positive about the day, speak positive things about others, about life, and about your situation. I don’t mean that you have to be one of those overly peppy people that just spit out nice things like a machine gun. Those people can be annoying. But if you can change your attitude then you will see other things change.
Change the way you look at things. Start with one or two positive things. Try it when something goes wrong. Look for something that went right in the madness. Something that you can be positive about. I’m not going to lie, this is hard!
If you can begin to be positive and speak positive it will change your outlook on the day, on the week and on life. Things will still go bad and Monday will still be hard to face when you’ve been off for two days, but a positive attitude will change your life.
You might think that sounds crazy. I know I did. I’ve been a negative person a large portion of my life. I wasn’t negative all time, but enough to taint my outlook on a lot of days. After I started trying to look at things in a more positive light my days began to go a little better. When they didn’t go better, the fact that I wasn’t being negative helped me get through the tough times. I didn’t let them drag me down.
Attitude plays a huge role in everything you do in life. You can dread something and think negative thoughts about it, or you can embrace it and think positive. Life is going to happen no matter what you do. There will be bad days and there will be good ones. The way you choose to look at things will be what determines your happiness through it all.
I’m not naive. I know there are people out there who struggle every day. People are facing depression and mental illnesses. This won’t be a fix-all for them. I’m praying that God will break those things from their lives. But for those of you out there who are just tired and complaining, this is for you. Get an attitude adjustment and watch how your life begins to change.
