The Alarm Is Going Off

It’s time.  As a matter of fact, we’re late!  If you are a Christian in America, your need to be coddled by a pastor has put the church to sleep.  We’ve been so focused on growing the numbers that we’ve set aside sound biblical teaching.  Now, we’re facing the repercussions.

The church has always stood against sin.  You could go into almost any church in America and hear sermons preached on sin and repentance.  People would be saved.  They’d turn from their wicked ways.  Now, a lot of churches are just setting sin to the side.  They say, “that’s between them and God”.  So they preach about popular topics.  Things that make people feel good.  Why?  If people don’t feel convicted, they won’t be uncomfortable, then they’ll be back.  They’ll give their dollars.  They’ll sign your membership roll.  It’s nothing more than a business.  If Jesus walked in to those churches, he’d flip their tables over and walk right back out.

Yes, the things people do are between them and God, but if you are a minister of the Gospel and you don’t preach on sin, or you choose growing your numbers in the seats over growing the numbers in Heaven, then YOU will answer to God.  You can have people in your seat Sunday after Sunday, but if those people aren’t being taught the complete truth, how can we expect them to be saved?  How can we expect them to reproduce for the Kingdom?

Now, because we’ve watered down the gospel to suit everyone and not make anyone uncomfortable, we are paying a high price.  People view us as a joke.  We are in a generation where people remember what the church used to be.  So when they see us changing our stance on things, what are they going to think?  Either we’ve been following a fairytale that we can change and make-up as we go or we no longer stand for truth.

As a church we’ve changed our stance on some things, that we never should have.  The word of God is forever.  It will always stand.  It will ALWAYS be true.  Therefore, if the Bible says something is sin, its sin.  It doesn’t matter who says its okay.  While we allow things to be twisted, there are a few things we passionately stand against such as homosexuality and abortion.  What does that makes us look like?  HYPOCRITES!  We can’t change the word of God!!  If the world sees us change our stance on things that have always been viewed as sin, then they are going to expect that other things will follow.  That’s why we look like a joke.  The Bible clearly states that homosexuality is a sin.  It states that murder is a sin, so that includes abortion.  Guess what, it always says lust is a sin.  Guess what the Bible says, if you even look upon a woman with lust in your heart you’ve already committed adultery!  We don’t want to hear about that though.  Heard the latest gossip?  You probably have, and from one of your local church faithful.  Guess what? God isn’t pleased with that either!  I could go on and on.  As long as we are able to point a finger at someone else, we think it distracts our own shortcomings from being seen.  Newsflash, God isn’t fooled.  He sees each and everyone of us.  Nothing is hidden from him.

It’s time for you to wake up Christian.  It’s time for you to take some responsibility and stand for the Word of God.  Study it.  Learn it.  If you are in a church that doesn’t preach the entire truth, then get out!  Find a church that will.  What you must understand is that there is still time.  I mentioned earlier that we are in a generation that remembers what the church used to be like.  If we can repent of our slack standards and return to the Bible, then we can turn this thing around.  What happens if we don’t?  Then I’m afraid  you’ll see the church in America continue its downward slide.  Right now we’re sinking and there are groups out there who would love nothing more than for us to go under.  WAKE UP!  Get right with God, then stand.  Stand for truth, no matter what the cost.

If you are a pastor, preach the truth.  Preach it no matter what.  If your numbers dwindle, then so be it.  Don’t focus on the numbers.  God had to weed out some of Gideon’s men too.  Took the army down to 300 men and won a great victory.  If they want to throw you in jail, so be it.  It’s coming.  Mark my words.  The sleeping church has allowed for this.  The alarm is going off, will you hit snooze or will you get out of that comfortable place and get to work?
