Do you remember when you first started on your journey with the Lord? Do you remember how it felt? Remember how that love felt?
If you’re like most Christians we all start out with an unquenchable fire down in our bones. However, life tends to get in the way. When you first get saved you’re thinking about how wonderful Jesus is and how much he loves you. You’re excited about going to Heaven one day! Then life happens. You go through the day to day tasks and little by little that fire begins to be extinguished. All the pressure of life pulls you down into a horrible pit.
God never changed. His word tells us he doesn’t change. He’s the same yesterday, today and forever. FOREVER…Do you understand that word? The definition of forever according to Webster’s dictionary is: for an endless time : for all time!!! For ALL TIME! So, if we feel differently we have to examine ourselves, because he is never changing. He wants to reignite our fire.
The biggest thing we can do to keep that fire going is to spend time with him daily. You have to remember this is a relationship. You couldn’t have a relationship with anyone on this earth without speaking to them. Just like any relationship, the more time you spend with them, the closer you become. Yes, life is still going to happen. You’re going to have bad days. You’re going to break down and cry. You’re going to lose it. We still have to live in a fallen world, BUT…and this is a HUGE BUT, this isn’t the end!!!
God has promised us in his word that there is coming a day when we will be with him. All tears will be wiped away from our eyes. There will be a new Heaven and new Earth and we won’t have to deal with death, sickness, or anything else that the fallen world has to put upon us. So if we can daily have a relationship with Jesus and remind ourselves of these things, that fire can still burn strong in us.
Run hard friends. Nothing in this world can stop you. It says in Romans 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. KJV
I’ll leave you with Romans 8:31-29 of the Message Bible, because I love the way it puts it. Just remember this!
31-39 So, what do you think? With God on our side like this, how can we lose? If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son, is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us? And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen? Who would dare even to point a finger? The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us. Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not even the worst sins listed in Scripture:
They kill us in cold blood because they hate you.
We’re sitting ducks; they pick us off one by one.
None of this fazes us because Jesus loves us. I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.
