Remember His Mercy

Remember His Mercy

There are few things in the world that you can count on every day. The one that comes to mind and that I enjoy the most is the sunrise. Give me a cup of coffee and a sunrise and I’m one happy man.  One of the other things we can count on is God’s mercy. The bible says that it is new every morning. Lamentations 3:22-24 says this:

22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I hope in Him!”

These are some of the most comforting verses to me. First it says because of the Lord’s mercy we are not consumed, because every last one of us is sinful. There is not one of us who doesn’t deserved to be consumed. Thank God for his mercy though, because of his compassion for us we are spared. And look what it says, his compassions fail not!!

The next verse is what gets me, his mercy and compassion is new every morning. Oh how I need it! God is patient and kind. I’ve got so many things that he’s working on and every morning just like the sun rising, his mercy rises new again. My soul hopes in him. He is all I have.

I know you can relate to this. How do i know, because you’re human. We all fail. And every day God shines his rays of mercy and compassion on us once again. We get up from our stumbles and run to our Father and ask him to forgive us and help us and he does. Without Jesus and his sacrifice we’d be lost. We wouldn’t have that mercy.

This is the season where we reflect on what Jesus did for us, reflect on that mercy today. God loves us so much that he didn’t only send his son to us, but he has compassion on us and offers us mercy every day. Think about the times you’ve been unlovable, unkind, the times you’ve been an all out wretch. God still loves you and offers compassion. All we have to do is continue to try to live according to his word. When we do mess up, simply ask him to forgive us and help us to not do it again and he will.

Take time to watch the sunrise and every time you see it remember his mercy is rising right along with it. It chases away the darkness and brings new hope. Here is a video of a song that helped inspire this post.
