Hope Grows In The Dark

There seems to be a theme to today.  HOPE.  I say it seems to be today’s theme, because God has caused it to stick out to me all over the place today.  We had the radio on for a very short time today while we were in the car.  The song that really stuck out to me was about hope.  I had an idea for a blog post about hope when I heard it.  Then without thinking, we rented the movie “Where Hope Grows”.  As we were watching it, my heart really latched onto the word hope.

If you’ve read my last blog posts you know its been kind of tough for me.  I lost my dad to cancer.  So I know what I’m talking about when I say that sometimes hope seems so far away, if it even exists.

When things are going good you don’t think much about hope.  It’s just there.  You’re not really in need of it.  Then when things take a turn for the worse, what’s the first thing we reach for.  Hope.  We want it to be there.  We beg for it.  We would give anything for it.

You know what I’m talking about.  We’ve all been there.  We’ve all faced the dark and groped for the light.  Things sometimes seem hopeless.  There are times when it feels like we’re at the end of the rope with no strength to climb back up and nothing but blackness below us.

The truth is hope grows in the dark.  You can NEVER get to a place where there is no hope.  Hope is alive.  Hope never dies.  Think about it.  Who gives hope?  God.  He’s not dead.  True, sometimes our prayers aren’t answered the way we want them to be, but that doesn’t change the fact that God is alive, God is good and he gives us hope.

So many times, when things get to the darkest point, hope shines through.  It cuts through all the lies.  It cuts through the darkness and reaches your soul.  When that happens, things shift.  Your thinking shifts.  Your mindset changes.

I want to encourage you, if you are in a hopeless situation right now, call out to God.  Hope is right there waiting for you.  When it reaches you, you’ll have a newfound joy.  Life won’t be the same, and it’s not supposed to be.  God has life for you.  God has plans for you.  God has HOPE for YOU!
