Flip The Switch

Christian Devotional God
The verse in this picture comes from The Message Bible, it’s one of my favorite verses.  It fits so many situations as does most of the Bible.  That’s why it’s such an amazing book.  Today though I want to talk about this verse.
Most of us are dealing with things.  Right now, as I type this, people are dealing with the loss of a loved one, loss of a job, addictions, and depression.  I could name many more things, but I think you get where I’m going with this.
This verse says BE BRAVE.  BE STRONG.  DON’T GIVE UP. EXPECT GOD TO GET HERE SOON!  Those are powerful words.  God is telling us to hold on, he’s on the way.  Sometimes when you are in the middle of the worst thing that could ever happen to you, you feel like your prayers aren’t going anywhere.  You may feel like God doesn’t care and that you’re all alone.  I’ve got good news for you.  You are NOT alone.  God does hear you and he’s on the way to help you!
You may wonder what in the world the light bulb has to do with this.  Grab some coffee and I’ll tell ya.  I’ll wait here.
Okay, you got the coffee?  Think about a light bulb for a minute.  They can’t do anything on their own.  They are just like us.  Powerless.  For them to have power they have to be plugged in, right?  I’m still not done.  Even if it’s plugged in, the light won’t come on until the switch is flipped.  I know, you may still be thinking Jase has drank a little too much coffee and he needs help.
When that switch is flipped how long does it take for that light bulb to come on?  Immediately right?  That’s how quick it changes darkness to light.   That’s how quickly God can move.  Stay plugged into God.  Even when it feels like you’re prayers are going nowhere.  You have the power, you just need to flip the switch.  God’s going to change things for you.
I’ve had my own share of loss.  I lost my Dad in April of 2006 to cancer caused by agent orange. I lost my stepdad this past August to cancer.  I lost a good job in 2002 due to a plant closure.  They took the job to Mexico.  I lost an even better job in 2008 due to a mass layoff.  Loss is a part of life.  Pain is a part of life.  You have to understand that GOD loves you, even in the painful times. He loves you when things are bad just as much as when things are good.  His love for you does not change.
If his love doesn’t change then you can rest assured that he stands ready to reach his hand down to you when you call.  I know, loss is painful.  I can only tell you that through my own experience God was there.  When it felt like the darkness was going to overtake me, it didn’t.  When things looked their darkest God came through.  HE NEVER FAILS ME.  If you are in the middle of your darkest hour right now, hold on, don’t give up. EXPECT GOD TO GET HERE SOON.  If you feel like it, leave a prayer request down below and I’ll be praying for you.  I know a lot of people who read this blog will do the same.
God is not going to leave you stranded.  He’s coming for you!
