This is a free verse poem/spoken word piece I wrote today. I hope it comes across in reading the way I want it to. Enjoy.
The First Time I Saw Him
Everything changes when he walks in the room.
I’ll never forget the first time I saw him.
It was like someone had opened the tomb.
And he did. My heart was truly free. I’ll never forget-
The first time I saw him
I didn’t see him with my eyes
No, for he cannot be seen with natural ability
Only through faith can you know he is with you
And only through faith can you have the relationship
He desires to have with you
I’ll never forget the first time I saw him…
I knew I was broken and nothing could fix me
Nothing but the blood of this man on the crucifix, you see
He willingly gave up his life for mine
And when I saw him for the very first time
Truly saw him, I gave him everything
All of me belongs to him and
All of him belongs to me
We’re one because he lives in me, you see
I’ll never forget the first time I saw him
How could I? This man who offered me his hand
And said follow me
And so I did. I promised to do it for eternity
One day my eyes will behold him
As he splits the sky wide open
I’ll rise…I’ll rise and my eyes will see him
And I’ll never forget
I’ll never forget the first time I saw him.
Beautiful to read, Jase! A great reminder of what’s in store for those who faithfully follow our Lord! 🙂
Thank you Colleen. It’s going to be an amazing day when we get to be with him!
