Today I’m pondering eternity. I’m thinking about the one who created me and all things. How often do we go through life and not think about what is to come.
Life is short. If you live to be 100, its nothing. Compare that to 500 years, 1000 years, and then compare it to forever. Life is a vapor, it’s here for a moment and then it’s gone.
God has placed eternity into the hearts of man. All through time, mankind has worshipped something. Whether people want to admit it or not, they think on eternity. It’s crossed their mind. What comes after this? Do we just live here and die and return to dust? Why would we? God has created each of us with a divine purpose.
If we would set our minds on eternity I think we’d begin to see a shift in our lives. When you’re only thinking about today and what you can get or what you have you lose focus of what’s real.
Things will last a short while. That big house, that fancy car, that money in the bank, they are nothing. When this is our focus we tend to do whatever it takes to get them. Change your focus to eternity and living with God forever and you will begin to think about others. You’ll want to share Jesus. You’ll want to show love. What you do here matters in eternity. The things you gain here don’t matter at all.
One day we will face God. We will stand before him and have to look him in the face and account for our actions. God, the creator of all things cares about you. Doesn’t that amaze you? Think about him. Think about eternity today.
This song is one of my favorites because it says, Eternity’s eternal song, is drawing me and calling me away. That’s exactly how I feel. I can remember it as a child even. Eternity’s song has always been calling for me. One day I’ll get to see Jesus. I’ll get to worship him in person, not just in spirit. I’ll get the privilege of bowing down before him. I’ll spend eternity with him. Listen in your heart, that song is calling for you. He’s calling you away.
